The basic aims of special education are the all-round and harmonious development of children's personalities, the improvement and utilisation of their abilities and skills to the extent that their potential ultimately allows for mutual acceptance, their harmonious coexistence with society as a whole, their equal social development and their integration into the school and social environment in a climate of equality, freedom, security and respect for their personalities.
